HEALTH AND MEDICINE INTERNSHIP needed for 1 to 3 months
Opportunity Description: You would be required to work in a variety of medical departments, where you would either assist or shadow the staff members. The type of work you will be allocated will depend to a large extent extent your own abilities and capabilities, which is understandable, given that you will be dealing with patients health and safety. You would be assisting the doctors and nurses in simple but practical ways, vastly increasing your own knowledge and understanding of medical practice in Ghana. You would get a good general feel of the Centre by working and/or observing in most departments and you will be exposed to hands-on medical work. If you plan on specializing in a particular field of medicine, we can arrange to place you in a relevant department, to ensure that you receive maximum experience in your chosen field. Some of the specialist areas are Nursing, Optometry, Dentistry etc.

Teaching/classroom assistant needed for 1 to 3 months
Opportunity Description: Teachers and Teaching Assistant are needed to teach the following subjects: English, French, Science, Mathematics, Computer, Music, Dance, Drama and Art. Teaching Assistants are also needed to give additional educational support. Teaching English \ Mathematics\ Science in low-income communities can increase employment opportunities and ultimately help people to become economically independent. Both inexperienced and experienced volunteers can teach vocabulary, assist with pronunciation, help with the calculation of figures and support students as they practice speaking English or Mathematics and improve on their Mathematics and Science skills. These students, of all ages and backgrounds, appreciate the opportunity to interact with fluent speakers and the extra assistance is welcomed by local teachers. If you are fluent in English you can provide a real contribution to the community and have great fun in the process.

Student Welfare Coordinator needed for 1 to 3 months
Opportunity Description: Taking the concerns and problems of students and having the parents and the school administrators aware of them by coming up with the best approach to solving them. Most schools or students do not have welfare coordinators and therefore students curriculum or social problem are left unattended to. Your presence and support would helps students build confidence in themselves and gain energy for new accomplishments. This placement does not require specialised skills or knowledge, just communication and written ability.

Computer Instructor needed for 1 to 3 months
Opportunity Description: To teach computer applications and programs, such as word, excel and basic computer applications. School children are gradually being exposed to computers and may need just basic computer flying start. so use this opportunity to share your skills! You will be amazed just how much you know and can pass on to your eager students. IT education is gradually taking root in this part of the world, so you would realise that in a computer class room, one computer is being shared by 4 students or more. IT skills are becoming important requirement to employment in Ghana and therefore parents are encouraging their children to take computer studies seriously. In Ghana, for instance only a hand full of homes have personal computers for their children to practice. You don't need any qualifications for this placement especially, if it involves primary or junior high school students. On the other hand, placement are available for higher computer instructors in the areas of MICROSOFT OFFICE SUIT, WEBSITE AND GRAPHIC DESIGNING, A+, N+, PROGRAMMING, CISCO, SYSTEMS AND DATABASE ADMINISTRATION, ETC. These may require qualification or specialized knowledge. Most of the computer instrutors are Ghanaians, it be welcoming opportunity for these students to have a perspective from a foreign instrutor.

MISSION STATEMENT

Raisie the standard of education and awareness in the areas of health; hygiene, nutrition, water, sanitation, HIV/ AIDS menace, malaria and other preventable diseases.

Help children and the youth to get more interested in computer education, science, English and mathematics.

Fight against violence, child sexual abuse, teenage age pregnancy and illicit drugs in children.

Help improve the living standard of children and the impoverish members of our society through empowerment, aid and volunteerism.

Last, but not the least, help to develop Ghana, promote world peace and intercultural integration through volunteerism



DISCRIPTION:

Premier Volunteers of Ghana (PREVOG) is a registered and accredited non-profit organization independent from governmental and religious funding in the capital city of Ghana, Accra. We are dedicated to working with children and the under privilege individuals in Ghana as well as assist Feed the hungry, clothe the naked, help provide health care, help set up Libraries, Computer training and Resource centers in low income communities.
